Always Good News is where you’ll find Connie Smith these days. She has hosted the CTS show for the past two years. But she continues to be best known for the time she spent at CHCH-TV as a reporter and news anchor. When she came to CHCH in 1976, she was the first female weather person the station had ever had and she went on to become the station’s first female anchor when she joined Dan McLean on the desk in 1988. An enthusiastic supporter of groups and causes across the city, she was co-host of the Chedoke-McMaster Children’s Hospital Mother's Day Telethon, has been honorary co-chair of the YMCA Breakfast with Santa for inner city kids, and was named Hamilton’s Woman of the Year for her production of the documentary Elizabeth’s Hope. Her leadership has been recognized in many ways, including the Queen’s Jubilee Medal and the Hamilton Health Sciences Cornerstone Award.
