Which Bookmobile stops are available for pickup and when?
Beginning Sept 22, Bookmobile stops are offered for weekly or biweekly pickup. Find a stop near you on HPL’s modified Bookmobile Schedule.
Why is the Riverdale Stop on pause?
Due to road construction, the Riverdale Stop is on pause.
Saturday October 10, 2020 is the last stop date until service resumes in Spring 2021.
Please visit the Red Hill and Saltfleet branches as alternate locations.
What if my stop is no longer offered? Can I still get library materials?
Contact HPL staff at 905-546-3200 to discuss your options for accessing library materials.
If I can't browse, how do I get library materials from the Bookmobile?
You can place holds, via our catalogue or call 905-546-3200 and staff can help you.
Do I need an appointment to collect my holds?
No. If you have received notification that your holds are ready you can pick up your holds at your chosen Bookmobile stop. New holds can be placed beginning September 28.
Can I enter the Bookmobile? Can I browse?
No. The Bookmobile isn’t open for browsing. A table is placed at each door of the Bookmobile; one for pickups and one for returns. Staff are at each table to assist you.
What happens if it's raining?
The Bookmobile will be there for you to pick up your holds, however please hold onto your returns.
Can I return my library materials to the Bookmobile?
Yes. A table is placed at each door of the Bookmobile. At one table you can pick up your holds and at the other you can return your library materials.
How do I know which holds are ready to be picked up?
You’ll receive an email confirming the items ready for pickup at your Bookmobile stop. You can also login to your account at myHPL to see which items are ready for pickup.
How do I manage/cancel my holds?

Why can’t I cancel my holds in my HPL online account?
You can cancel any holds listed as “Not Ready”. If the item is “Ready for Pickup” or “In Transit”, please call 905-546-3200 or chat online with staff on HPL.ca to cancel your holds.
How long can I keep my items?
You have four weeks to enjoy your items, including DVDs, CDs and games.
How many items can I borrow at once?
You can check out 50 items.
Can I pick up holds for others?
Yes. You can pick up holds for family/friends using their library card.
Why are my items not checked in?
All library materials are quarantined for 72 hours (as recommended by Health Canada and Hamilton Public Health) and then checked in so it may take a few days before you see the items come off of your account.
Are the books, DVDs, CDs virus-free?
All library materials are quarantined for 72 hours (as recommended by Health Canada and Hamilton Public Health). Staff also wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling the items and practice frequent hand hygiene.
