Tuesday, April 28 is the National Day of Mourning to remember and honour those who have died, been injured or suffered illness in the workplace. All HPL Branches will observe a minute of silence at 11am to honour their memories. Please remove your hats and silence your devices out of respect.

Starting March 30, renovations for the 2nd floor Central Children's Area will begin. Programs will still be offered as scheduled and there will be a temporary pop-up Children’s Area on the northeast side of the 2nd floor (near the Piano Room), including access to collections and train tables. As of Monday, March 2, Sherwood Branch's 2nd floor is closed due to renovations. Makerspace, Children and Teen's collection are temporarily available on the 1st floor. Terms of Use for Data Plans and Device Sharing
Please read the following Terms of Use for the loan of this device. By logging into the device, you are acknowledging that you agree to these terms of use.
- You must be 18+ years of age, have a Discover or Inspire Library card and be a Library member in good standing (i.e., Not banned).
- Only one device can be borrowed per household.
- You agree to abide by Hamilton Public Library policies regarding internet use. Specifically, the Technology and Internet Use Policy and the Customer & Service Commitment Policy (both available to view on hpl.ca).
- Devices are available on a first come first served basis and must be returned in person to HPL Staff at the desk of the branch where it was borrowed.
- The loan period is 28 days.
- Overdue devices are deactivated and locked until they are returned to the Library.
- If the device is lost or stolen while it is checked out to you, please notify HPL immediately so it can be locked remotely.
- The replacement cost is $500. If the device is stolen/lost or broken, Library Members are responsible for covering the cost of its replacement.
- A charger and keyboard are provided to you and must be returned with the device.
- If you are mask exempt and need to print, your print jobs can be sent remotely to any branch using our Print on the Go service and can be brought out to you or placed with your holds for pick-up at the branch.
- HPL is not responsible for data transmitted or loss of information. Users should be aware that third parties may be able to obtain information about the users' activities when connecting to the internet. HPL assumes no responsibility for the security and privacy of online transactions.
- The device may be locked under the data provider’s Fair Usage Policy. The Fair Usage Policy is for domestic data usage and roaming data usage. If a user utilizes more than the Data at Maximum Speed allocation for its applicable plan, Rogers will throttle the wireless data throughout for such line, to the speed levels specified in the applicable plan for both domestic and roaming data for the remainder of that billing month. In addition, the Member may not use a line associated with this Fair Usage Policy as a hub for other data-consuming devices not associated with the primary line, nor otherwise use such line in a way not typical of standard voice and data traffic consumption. If Rogers identifies any such non-intended usage, the line will be migrated to a plan with appropriate data inclusions.
