Friends and supporters of the Hamilton Gallery of Distinction,
We hope you and your families are faring well during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. As you know, since 1984 the Hamilton Gallery of Distinction has been recognizing outstanding Hamilton citizens, past and present, who have made significant contributions towards the betterment of our community. In light of the ongoing crisis and with an eye to the future of the Gallery, the Board of Directors has decided to refrain from holding the annual Gallery of Distinction nominations process and hosting the induction dinner in 2020.
Instead, we are taking this year as an opportunity to consider the role of the Gallery in our community, its meaning and impact, and how we might continue to evolve the Gallery to most meaningfully recognize exceptional Hamiltonians.
We continue to honour inductees on the Gallery of Distinction web page on the Hamilton Public Library website, and we invite you to visit the wall honouring the inductees on the 3rd floor of the Central Library when it reopens. For the time being, we are closing the nomination process, however, all nominations currently submitted will remain valid for the next round. We will communicate widely when the intake reopens and we have more details about the exciting next chapter of the Gallery.
We welcome input from those who have participated in the Gallery in the past and members of the broader community. If you would like to be involved in the discussions around the future of the Gallery, please contact Karen Dennie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Stay safe during this crisis, and thank you for your ongoing support in honouring our notable Hamiltonians.
We would like to hear from you by participating in the Hamilton Gallery of Distinction survey.
