Witness Blanket
Inspired by a woven blanket, The Witness Blanket is a large scale art installation, made up of more than 800 items reclaimed from Residential Schools, churches, government buildings, and traditional and cultural structures including Friendship Centres, band offices, treatment centres, and universities from across Canada.
This national monument recognizes the atrocities of the Indian Residential School era, honours the children, and symbolizes ongoing reconciliation. As part of a cross-Canada tour, the Witness Blanket was on display at Central Library from July 11-August 30, 2015.
