One to One Tutoring:
Practise English face to face with a volunteer tutor. Meet two times a week for a total of four hours a week. Day, evening and weekend times available. Meet at any library location. Choose the English skills you want to work on or work on all four - listening speaking, reading, and writing. Choose what you want to learn, for example - day to day life in Canada, current events, how to talk with coworkers, neighbours etc.
To join, you must be 18 or older and either a Permanent Resident or Protected Person. To register, call the YMCA Immigrant Settlement Services at 905 526-8452 and make an appointment for a LINC assessment.
English for Seniors:
Learn English with other seniors 55 years old and over. Classes are small with no more than 15 students. Classes are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30am to 11:30am. You will practise speaking, listening and pronouncing words. You will learn words you need to help you at your doctor's, at the store, at your bank, and where you live. You will be able to get extra help on Mondays from 9:30am -11:30am.
