Update March 6, 2020
With the current news about Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), as CEO/Chief Librarian of Hamilton Public Library, I want to assure community members that HPL has a robust Pandemic Plan. We are taking a proactive approach to COVID-19 and are making it a high priority to ensure accurate, up-to-date and reliable information about the virus is available to the public. Specifically, we want to ensure people have access to information about:
- The risks of a pandemic
- Steps to reduce the risk of exposure
- Steps to take if you or someone you know becomes ill
- Other useful information about planning for and coping with a pandemic
We are working closely with Public Health, the City of Hamilton and other community partners. As the situation evolves, we will adapt our services as needed and work to minimize the impact of inaccurate information.
We all need to work together to ensure that COVID-19 does not lead to unnecessary fear or division in our community. HPL’s overriding priority is to help keep the public and staff safe, healthy and informed.
