Online Library eClassroom Card FAQ

Why is Hamilton Public Library adding online eClassroom registration?
It's an opportunity for students to connect and use our online Library resources.

Who can apply for an eClassroom card?
Any student who attends school in Hamilton is eligible.

How can teachers and educators encourage students to apply for an eClassroom card?
Encourage your students to fill out the form.

What can students access when they are registered?
Students immediately enjoy all our digital content — eBooks, eAudiobooks, music downloads, online learning tools and research databases.

Can students borrow physical items with an eClassroom card?
Yes, to borrow books, DVDs and register for programs, head to any branch or Bookmobile.

What if the student already has a Hamilton Public Library card? Do they need an eClassroom card to access HPL’s digital content?
No. The student’s current Library card already has access to all HPL digital content. They can log in with their existing library card number and PIN.

Can students add the name of someone else to have access to their account?
No. But anyone who lives, works or studies in Hamilton can apply for their own eCard online.

What if the student applies for an eClassroom card and it keeps giving error messages?
Some of the possible reasons for the errors are IP addresses outside of Canada, an already existing account, etc. There is usually a red circle with a question mark at the field that is generating the error. Hovering over the red circle will explain the error. If the error persists, call 905-546-3200, email or click the chat button at from 8am-10pm.

If someone has lost an online library card number. What to do?

The student applied but didn’t receive the welcome email.
Email security settings may be blocking the email. Please check the spam/junk mail folder.

Can students get an eClassroom card to replace a lost or stolen card?
No. Students should contact HPL immediately to report a lost or stolen card. Call 905-546-3200, email or click the chat button at from 8am-10pm. The card needs to be replaced in person at a Branch or Bookmobile when we reopen.
