In “Badlands,” Carol Woods depicts the joy of mark-making and gesture through a wide range of imagery, both figurative and abstract. Born in St. John’s Newfoundland, living in Ontario and inspired by travel across North America, her work is influenced by the surrounding landscape. The specific moment in time and stark emotional space are captured through bold brushstrokes and a painterly mixed-media approach, with multiple layers simultaneously exposed and hidden from the viewer.
Carol Woods is a graduate of Sheridan College and holds a BFA degree from Queen’s University. She has exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions and her work are held in private collections.
The Stoney Creek Branch offers artists from the community an opportunity to exhibit quarterly shows in two areas of the library.
